Spirit says, "This is a great place to visit"! I know he'd say that if I could get him to form sentences.

I'm not a techy type person and I'd never have found this site or was I looking for a site to blog with Spirit and Sapphire on. I got the invitation to join the site through Moses' free Ebook, "Dogsmanship". So, basically it was a win, win the ebook has been very helpful and I have high expectations that the web site will be fruitful with some honest conversations about our "Best Friends".

hi all,

Just left a post on this topic in the Potty training forum. But, thought I'd post it here as well.

Spirit's doing fairly well in doing his bussiness outside, except when it's raining outside. Yes, you read this right! Spirit doesn't want to pee or poo outside in the rain! He's had this dislike for rain since I got him at 5 1/2 weeks old.

He does fairly well at controlling himself in other areas. He sleeps through the night (with me) and waits until morning to wake me up too take him OUT, he comes to me and barks OUT in a husky whine bark when he's loose in the house and wants me too take him outside to do his business. When a mistake has been made it can be traced back to ME as the problem (not paying attention or heeding his bark). I've been using a combination training method of Crate and Command. He comes when called when he's off leash in our fenced in backyard, he heels pretty well and usually walks behind me dawlding, he waits at doors until I enter them or waits at stairs until I walk up them. He sits, lays down and stays until I get up or tell him GO! He stops nipping (puppy play biting) or general horsing around when I tell him ENOUGH! He stops when he's jumping up to get attention, when he's told OFF! If he starts to whine in the crate or starts tearing up his bedding, he stops when told BEHAVE! For all intents and purposes he's doing alright in his puppy training except for doing his bussiness in the RAIN.

I don't expect much from him nor do I need or want a dog that will unthinkingly submit to each and every command, if I wanted that I'd never have gotten a Siberian Husky. I like the Sibe personality with all of its quirks and surprises. They are a breed of dog that will always keep one amused.

I just can't figure out, How to get him to go outside when its raining to do his business, anyone got any ideas?

Regards,
Lobo

Hello, I am most interested in the book as I have a 6 moth old Teddy Bear Yorkie who is still making mistakes in the house. I am new to small dogs, but have successfully trained many large dogs. ( Shepard, Collie, Hounds, Huskies) I have a 4 month old Bernese who is already housebroken, but the Yorkie has become a frustrating task. I know he knows what to do. I feel I am missing something here. He submits to all other requirements. I am having more success with his barking then I am having with the house breaking. I hope this book will have some answers for me.

Hi All,

I'm looking forward to downloading Toni's Ebook! Spirit is still having some mistakes (mostly my fault for not listening to him). I've been trying to get Spirit to speak OUT, in a husky howl...sometimes he forgets to speak or uses a whine. Sapphaire is doing great (probably because she's my wife's girl), she comes and quietly gets me to take her OUT! Anyway, they both are learning as all puppies do.

Spirit has had his 10 wk birthday and his girl Sapphaire has had her 18 wk B-day. They sure do grow up fast!

We hope to add a couple more AKC Siberian Huskies to the pack this coming spring...looking for a deep copper & white w/ blue eyes and a silver gray & white w/ blue eyes. So, more potty training will be required.
